ORIZZONTI
Matlakas in ORIZZONTI special thanks to Artist-in-Residence Vietnam Network Hai Hoang Trangg Anhh Diệu Linh Nguyen Dieu Anh Ye LinPhạm Nguyên Chúc LinhNguyễn Ngọc An Nhiên"Orizzonti" gazes at the horizon where the sky and sea merge, envisioning a brighter future for all humanity. This future is shaped by our daily actions and their impact on present and future generations. The title reflects our collective dream of living in a fairer world, emphasizing our responsibility to educate ourselves and evolve as a species. Inspired by the Quang Gánh, the artist crafts a striking metal sculpture featuring two swings in place of the traditional baskets. During the performance, the artist wears a metal Nón Lá with incense burning at its peak, symbolizing a spiritual connection with the higher self. As he carries two children, this powerful piece underscores our collective duty to protect and nurture the world of children. It highlights the essential role of play and dreams, embodying the hope for a more emancipated society. Our duty as a species is to preserve their innocence and curiosity, fostering equality and unity. Regardless of nationality or background, every adult plays a crucial role in maintaining harmony, learning from one another, and progressing together towards a more open and developed society. Created and premiered in Hanoi with the contribution of the Artist in Residence Vietnam Network.
